The Round-Up 2/1/2013 – D-Arts Mega Man, Rocksteady & Bebop, Star Wars Black Series, More
Friday, February 1st, 2013 by Pixel Dan
It’s been a while since I’ve done a Round-Up post. There’s been a lot of toy news heading into Toy Fair 2013, so I figured now was as good a time as ever to bring this column back. So here are some of the noteworthy pieces of toy news for the past week:
~ TMNT Classics Bebop and Rocksteady were revealed this week, thanks to MTV Geek. Of course, everyone probably knows that by now. I even put up a post about it here on Pixel-Dan.com. Since the initial post, several more pictures and even a video walkthrough of Playmates’ upcoming TMNT toys have hit the net. So if you have’t already seen them, check them out and then feel free to discuss your thoughts here!
~ Another HUGE reveal this week was the announcement that Hasbro would be producing 6″ Star Wars action figures. This was another bit of news that I found so exciting that I put up a post about it for discussion. Since the initial post, we have learned that 2013 will see the release of 8 figures spread over 2 waves. Wave 1 will consist of X-Wing Pilot Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, Darth Maul, and a Sandtrooper. It looks like these figures will be sold at retail stores. We should get a look at all of Series 1 at the very least next weekend at Toy Fair.
~ The D-Arts Mega Man and Rush figure set is starting to show up as an in stock item at many online retailers. This is a figure I have been incredibly excited for! There has just been such an influx of amazing action figures based on classic video game characters over the course of the last year or so. If you are looking to pick this particular figure up, might I recommend you buy him from our sponsor at Fantastic Plastic Toys? You can even use coupon code ORG at checkout for a nice little discount!
~ With all of this Toy Fair talk, I feel the need to remind everyone that I will be at the event with camera in hand! I’m also working in conjunction with Toy News International this year, as together we are presenting a few lucky toy companies with one of our Toy Awards! And as always, I’ll be there doing some coverage for He-Man.org as well. So make sure you stay tuned to ToyNewsI.com, He-Man.org, and of course right here at Pixel-Dan.com for lots of Toy Fair coverage including pictures and videos!
~ Did your MOTU Classics Granamyr arrive with issues? I hope not, but unfortunately a lot of folks have had breakage issues with him. Granamyr is such a great looking sculpt that I feel he could have been my favorite figure of the year, even above Mosquitor. Well ok, not above Mosquitor. But still, he’s pretty incredible. However, all of the QC issues people are experiencing with him have really tarnished his reputation. While those QC issues are a total bummer, friend and master customizer Hunter Knight has put together a really nice tutorial video on how you can fix your Granamyr. You can check it out here.
Thanks for the round up Dan – really good video by Hunter Knight Customs too
Thanks, Glad it was helpful!
