Alright, are you guys ready for an onslaught of new MOTU Classics reviews? Let’s kick things off with Mekaneck!
Mekaneck is a “heavy hitter,” being a core member of the Heroic Warriors! How does this new Classics version of the character look outside of the package?
Join Pixel Dan for an advanced look at this upcoming figure from Mattel!
I revised this post to clarify the information. I realized that I may have inaccurately quote Scott from Roast Gooble Dinner, so I have corrected this.
On a personal scale of 1 to 10, Scott put it at a 7. He said it’s something you can live without, but it’s kinda cool.
He called it a happy accident and they realized they could do something with it.
The Four Horsemen sculpted it.
It’s a weapon.
He said there’s not that many of them, and they had Power-Con coming up where they could do something with them because they didn’t have enough to do something with at SDCC.
Saying the color would give too much away about what it is.
It is polybagged.
In regards to if it will be available any where else, he said it depends on how many are given away at Power-Con
In regards to the limit of 1000, Power-Con is guaranteeing the first 1000 tickets sold will get this accessory. Mattel has not stated a specific production quantity. We only know there are not many of them. How many are claimed at Power-Con will determine if ANY are left over. We’re sure Mattel will let us know what they will do with them IF any remain.
It’s official! DC Club Inifnite Earths and MOTU Club Eternia met their goals for subscriptions and are going forward for 2013!
It appears DC squeaked by, which I was not at all expecting. But I’m very happy for the DC collectors out thee! MOTU Classics on the other hand ended up going above and beyond, going 35% beyond what was needed! Scott seems to imply that this boost bodes well for going forward in 2014 as well.
It was also announced that the winner of the Fan Poll for MOTU Classics was Geldor. Coming in second right behind him was Illumina. While I voted for Illumina, I’m happy with Geldor. It’s cool to get some mini comic representation in the line. Plus, I had a feeling he’d be the winner. He’s a huge fan favorite among the German fan base, and those German MOTU fans know how to get the job done! 🙂
I should add that it was very nice of Scott to give me a shout out in this video!
So, we’re getting at least another year of both DCUC and MOTUC! Pretty exciting stuff for those of us who were hoping for more toys.
While at San Diego Comic Con, I had the priveledge and the honor of making a guest appearance on Toy Break’s SDCC 2012 Special Delivery episode! Doing what I do best, I give a run-down of Mattel’s upcoming Masters of the Universe Classics figures! Check it out! There’s a lot of other cool stuff to see as well! Video after the jump!
You guys know who Rudy Obrero is, right? He’s the talented artist behind many of the box art pieces from the original Masters of the Universe toy line, and the man responsible for the beautiful artwork seen on the MOTU Classics Wind Raider, Map posters, and the upcoming Granamyr.
Not too long ago he posted some brand new artwork depicting He-Man flying over a sea on a hover board-looking device that Rudy created just for the painting. He called in The Manta Raider.
Soon after, talented toy maker Joe Amaro recreated The Manta Raider in plastic! It was a perfect representation of the device seen in Rudy’s painting. After seeing this, many fans said they would love to add this piece to their collections.
Well, fans are finally going to get the chance to do just that.
While there has been plenty of arguing and debate, one thing I love seeing is when fans can come together for a common cause to help support the toy line they all love. Many people have already begun posting many pictures and videos in support of the Masters of the Universe Classics (and DC Universe Classics) subscription.
I felt that it was time for me to help spread the word as well.
