Awesome video. Love this series. My favorite playset in my early childhood. I actually got a second one from my older brother in 1985 while in the hospital for a leg surgery. One of the tabs broke on the jawbridge on my first one very soon upon getting it on Christmas 1984.

Ok It has to be fate, that this was what you showed at Powecon, the same powercon that Mattel announced the preorder for the MOTUC CG!

  • Binks says:

Oh please! Oh Please! Let the powers that be at Matttel give the new MOTUC Castle Grayskull a handle and the ability to carry and pack a few figures in it like the classic!

    it doesnt look iconic

  • Joey says:

Congrats on all your success, Dan!

I don't like the color of the original castle. I mean, purple? really? Green looks a lot better.

  • He-Man says:

    I agree, Mr. Pixel !

  • Philip says:

Im not american, skull rock from peter pan had this concept before hand. heman is iconic, having a skull fortress isnt. its like dragonball, do people remember tiny goku fighing demons in the dragonball before z? no, everyone remembers over 9000, space saiyans and power lvels. its why people gto dissapointed with evolution because they thought it would be based on z.

I completely disagree with you. Castle Grayskull is the single most important element of Masters of the Universe. It's the key piece. It what the entire story revolves around. He-Man calls upon it when transforming. Skeletor is constantly trying to take it. All of that "power" He-Man is shouting about….it comes from Castle Grayskull.

On the toy front, whether you want to believe it or not, this is one of the most recognizable and often revered as one of the best playsets ever created.

I promise you that just about anyone can look at Castle Grayskull and know exactly what it is or where it comes from.

Trying to argue that He-Man is iconic and Castle Grayskull can't be because of He-Man is just silly.

  • I noticed your flag was upside down. My father assembled mine that way as a kid and I always resented him for doing so…until I realized that the instruction sheet actually showed it assembled that way! http://www.he-man.org/assets/images/collect_toy/g… Sorry for all those years of the cold shoulder, Dad. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hello Dan. I really enjoy your videos. While watching this one I feel that you should have mentioned Point Dread and the Talon Fighter. The box art work was awesome, the comic was awesome, and I liked my GS with them sitting atop.

  • […] many things cut from this prototype that did not make it to the final playset in the 80′s (see: Power & Honor- Castle Grayskull for more info.) Do you see that little red skull at the top of the elevator poleย the left side? Bam! Looks like […]

excellent review and I have to agree that it is a great playset. I never owned it myself but my cousin had both castles (snake mountain) and we played with them through every stage of the 80's it started with he-man, then it became a base for our joes and finally ended with the turtles. they literally seen years of play and were mixed in with just about every toy we had.

More Power & Honor to come? I love this series.
