First glimpse at new TMNT Movie look?

Yikes.

An image has leaked out from a costume compay who is supposedly working on product for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live action movie. This image began circling the net today. Is this our first look at the Turtles?

There it is. While we don’t know for certain if this is the real deal, it does seem like a legit marketing image to me.

I’ve been doing my best to keep an open mind about the upcoming new movie, but it seems with every bit of new information that comes out, I cringe a little more. We recently learned that the Turtles would be wearing clothes in the movie, which if you ask me is completely unnecessary. It looks like this costume confirms that.

Aside from the pants, heis  otherwise still recognizable as a Ninja Turtle…for the most part. But really start to examine that image, and you’ll start to notice little details that are going to make you question the new designs.

Look at his arm. Is that a tattoo? Don’t forget that the Turtles are teenagers. What’s the point of the tattoo? I’m sure it’ll be explained as having some sort of Ninja clan connection or something, but I don’t like it.

Hanging around his neck appears to be a necklace with a pendant, and a pair of sunglasses. The Turtles need some bling now, I guess.

Now this of course is nothing more than a children’s costume, and once again we don’t even know for sure if this is legit or not. But if it is, I think this gives us a pretty good indication on what we should expect to see.

I’m getting a little more nervous.

Special thanks to What the Shell! for bringing this to my attention and TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles.com for breaking the news!

Okay, I had to sign up just to comment. (I love your reviews BTW.) This is the most hideous thing I have ever seen. Please someone verify this atrocity as a fake. I cannot take my nine year old to see this. We are to big of fans for BAY to ruin this for us. If this is the look…they don't get my money.

Agreed, I know I sound passionate but wow. I just met Kevin Eastman a short while ago and shared what the Turtles meant to me as a kid. Now my son loves it as much as I do. Would be cool to take him to see it considering I saw the first two movies a combined Eight times in the theater.

This is almost as bad as the Pancho Villa Michelangelo from the vintage toyline. I'd expect this to be a "Silly Variant" from the Playmates Toys "We just ran out of variants that make sense" vault than the Actual Movie Designs…

Ugh, no, please no. The Nick animated series I love. Sure, it has things I disliked at first, but the story has me hooked. There are things I dislike still, but I am enjoying it. This new film confuses me though. I think most kids that are into the Nick series are going to be really confused. I just do not understand the timing.

And BTW, I still consider the Nick series 'the new look' LOL I guess it's been around a few years now…..

I hope this is a joke… The face is more Shrek than Turtle. And what are those short things? And why is there a small sweatshirt tied around his waist?
I knew Michael Bay would ruin Turtles (I stopped buying Transformers because of his craptastic movies), but sheesh, what a train wreck of a redesign. Let me guess, half way through the movie they will be using guns and explosives to beat the foot.
Michael Bay… leave my childhood alone!!!

I don't know what to say about this pic. Unfortunately it seems to be true someone else I know reportedly seen the other designs and apparently leo is donning some amalgam of samurai armor and Donnie is apparently wearing some kind of tech suit and raph looks like someone stepped out of a ufc cage.. of course its all internet rumors…. why would I not be surprised if it turns out to be true.. that costume is horrendous and why nickelodeon would even allow such a departure is bewildering to me..

This looks absolutely ridiculous! I feel like this has to be a joke. I'm sitting here waiting for Ashton Kutcher to come out and tell me I'm punked! This is the kind of news you see on April fools day. They would be better off breaking out the old costumes from the 1990 movie. Unbelievable!
