DC Universe Classics All Stars New 52 Superman Figure Review

Mattel’s DC Universe Classics will continue at retail with a smaller All Stars line that will seemingly focus more on the “heavy hitters” of the DC Universe.

Join me for a look at the new Superman figure from this wave, based on his appearance in DC’s “New 52.”

Video after the jump!

I thought Mattle canceled the retail line. Too bad no Collect and Connect piece, I really want a C&C Doomsday.

This wave is still coming to retail. I don't know if any more are coming after this, though.

The little details they added to the standard buck really makes this pop! Really looking forward to him.

Like Batman, I wanted this figure last year before I grew tired of the New 52 crap. Plus, he is already being reissued with Hawkman and Flash, so I see no reason to pick him up now. I'll just wait to see if the DC Unlimited version includes a figure stand or something extra since they ar enow $18 for just the figure.

The lack of accessories is very dissapointing. I'm also not a fan of these costume redesigns. So these are definitely only for the people that really love the DC Comcis relaunch.

superman still looks kinda gay.

Be careful now. Being gay isn't a bad thing, so don't use that word as an insult please. :-)

not that, hes wearing skin tight outfits. also, I think raimi directing superhero movies is interesting, because of the camp and bromance there is. I dont have a problem in homosexuality, its just we don't see many gay male superheroes. like this anime busou renkin. theres like a super villian whos motif is a butterfly and looks really homo. he has an effection for the main character he kills everyone in the end when the main character like dies or something... its interesting.

I love the DC universe! Superman, Batman, you name it but this new 52 redesign is just awful. I know why the powers that be did it but it's bad.

I'm sure that I'll get both Supes and Bats, but the figure I'm REALLY excited for is Red Robin! He's been on my "must haves" list for years and I'm thrilled that the figure is of the costume PRE-New 52 as his new one just plain sucks.

Great review as always, but don't care for any of these new redsigns or figures (except maybe that Hawkman fig, he looks pretty awesome).
Anybody else think these new redesigns really PO Mattel since they can't use the old bucks? Not to mention all the artists who have to draw those usless lines all over the new costumes. I feel sorry for the artists:)

That's Red Robin. I too thought it was Hawkman at first before I saw Dan's review.

Thanks for the heads' up (I mean it), but I was taklking about the DC Unlimited 2013 Series 01
Hawkman: (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=MAT14788&mode=retail)
Sorry for the mix-up, he's from the kinda next wave from Mattel's DC stuff.
Now that you mention it Red Robin does look really like a Hakwman or Hawkboy.
He needs a sidekick. Hawkman, Hawkgirl & Hawkboy / Hawklad / Hawky

Looks too much like a movie version of Superman's costume for me (if that makes sense). I don't hate it, just ehh (why change it). That said, I don't mind the lack of red underwear.

It's changed many, many times before and this one won't last either.
I will agree about the 'Jim Lee lines' because when anyone other than Jim Lee does them, they look terrible.
