The Geek Easy Podcast – Ep. 007 – R Rated Movies turned Kid’s Toys

Pull yourself up a cozy seat and grab a beverage! It’s time for another geek-tastic discussion here in The Geek Easy!

GeekEasyLogo_4_Solid

In this episode, hosts Pixel Dan and Jonathan are joined by friend Jason Devall from ToyWorldOrder.com to discuss a topic that has always been quite intriguing to Dan: R Rated Movies that were turned into toylines for kids!

Aliens, Predator, Rambo, RoboCop, and many more movies that were not at all intended for kids somehow got toy lines aimed directly at children in the 90’s! The guys discuss the many R Rated films that got toy lines and reminisce about them all!

While you’re listening to the podcast, why not do a little shopping over at NerdRageToys.com! They even have some of the very toys we’re discussing in this episode!

what an awesome subject for the show!!!

i totally relate to this, being a similar age to you dan – i was allowed to watch terminator/robocop when i was younger (i guess around 8/9 years of age) but only if my dad was supervising me … whilst i didn't really understand much of what was going on, i knew i wanted all the toys after i had watched it!!! … i especially remember having a TONNE of the T2 kenner figures, including the motorbike and car vehicles … never did manage to get the flesh-regenerator play set though!! 🙂 …

i guess being able to watch these movies as a kid was really cool – as a lot of my friends at school were into the same thing and we kind of grew up with it together …

looking back, i guess movies like the terminator would probably class as a rated 15 or rated 12 now – given that violence/horror certifications have become a lot more broader now …

"Spencer Powers", inspired by the Super Powers toyline?

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I still remember the Alien toy whose head you dipped in water and squeezed to squirt out "acid".

Perhaps the next time you guys commentate on a cartoon, it could be from the Rambo, Robocop, or Gobots series.

    • Pixel Dan says:

Nope, Spencer Powers isn't inspired by anything toy related. Nice connection though!!

Glad you enjoyed the episode! 😀 Those Alien toys are so cool and memorable. I think everyone either had some or at least remembers them pretty clearly.

Why do you guy's have to talk about these toy lines that I used to collect and NOW, I want to get them again. A curse on all your houses. Seriously though, I love this podcast, you and Jonathan are a dynamite team. Oh and your original Kenner Predator figure, his staff is supposed to go between the bolo to help him stand. It was my first Predator figure back in the day.
